It’s fun to be at a point now were with less than 3 weeks to go I can countdown the time in days….”about 18-ish days to go!” It makes it feel close, but then there are moments where mentally I feel like she will never come out. I hear that’s a normal feeling around this last part, plus I’m just plain impatient.
At week 36 we had a little baby drama come up. We were at my regular weekly appointment and they thought they caught a deceleration of her heart rate on the doppler. They don’t take those things lightly so that resulted in 8 hours of fetal monitoring at the hospital. It turned out everything was okay and there was absolutely no issue. Still it was quite a mentally draining day, lying there still wondering if something would happen that would cause it to be Baby J’s bday. Just in case I took a picture of us since we weren’t sure if this would be the moment just before we became parents.
It was nice getting to hear her heartbeat all day long and know she was healthy. We also got to have an ultra sound because they want to check her amiotic fluid, how the umbilical cord looks, etc. All was good! She was even using her little lungs, stomach, and bladder. She was weighing in at 6 pounds, which was spot on for 36 weeks.

The week 37 appointment had no drama, but no indications that anything has started yet. Just mild cramps that come and go. Plus I could use extra naps. Keep cooking baby!

My doctor has advised me to slow down and rest more. He knows I’m a busy body and while I get tired easy, I still keep trying to be busy. I have respected my doctor’s wishes and have been resting more and have just been walking for exercise lately. I don’t even take my running watch with me and just go for walks with my fitbit or nothing to track. It feels good to be outside and move around. Not having a goal time or distance has been a nice mental break.
In baby items we got our running stroller!!! We got the Mountain Buggy Terrain. I can’t wait until we can use it!!
I will do a review on it once we have logged some time with Baby J. We got the Peg Perego attachment to use it with her car seat as well. There are a lot of great running stroller options out there, but here are some of the features that had us picking this one:
- Hand break
- Adjustable handrail
- Zipper compartment
- Double bottle slings standard
- Seat fully comes out for cleaning
I’m getting Baby J’s clothes organized and just need to add bins for all of the little stuff.
In the nursery we have new furniture thanks to Rob’s handy work! He adjusted plans that I found on ana-white to fit our nursery.
He made Baby J a book case and some book shelves. While it’s great that making furniture is incredibly inexpensive versus buying something from Pottery Barn or another store, the best part is that the furniture is completely custom to the dimensions that work for our space and it’s sentimental because it was made by Rob. I couldn’t be happier!

Material cost to make this size of bookcase was $80
Glass Canister for hair bows and accessories – Pier 1, Rainbow Sock Monkey – Pier 1
Bookshelves material costs $20
We have just some odds and ends left to get. An end table next to the glider, bins for closet and shelves, one more book case, a set of hooks for purses and jackets, a new floor lamp, table lamp, and art for one more wall. All of which we can add at any point. Everything is otherwise in place and ready for Baby J’s arrival!
