Half Marathon Music List Creation

For my first half marathon I did not wear headphones. I’m not a goodie goodie rule follower all the time, but I decided this was my first half and I didn’t want to risk getting my results yanked. Of course I think some tunes would have given me a little umph when I needed it. I run with and without headphones, but since headphones are allowed at my next half (thank you USATF for the updated regulation!) I’m taking advantage.

So now I have to come up with my mix. I have more than enough time to try some songs out on my long run and lock into a music set list. I thought I would post some contenders that I have and some of the lyrics that get me moving:

Back in Black – AC/DC
“It’s been too long I’m glad to be back.”
“They’ve got to catch me if they want me to hang.”
Intergalatic – Beastie Boys
“I run the marathon to the very last mile.”
Circus – Britney Spears
“I’m like a firecracker, I make it hot.”
“I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins.”
Pig (Live) – Dave Matthews Band
“Don’t throw your day away.”
“Shake up your bones, shake up your feet.”
Save Me (Live) – Dave Matthews Band
“Or am I too far gone, to get back on.”
“Might try saving yourself.”
Eh Hee (Live) – Dave Matthews Band
“I’m going to drop the devil to to his knees.”
“Take the next step, but I will, I will til I do.”
You Might Die Trying (Live) – Dave Matthews Band
“However small, the first step is hardest of all.”
“If you give, you begin to live, you get the world.”
Beat It – Fall Out Boy
“Show em how funky, strong is your fight.”
I Don’t Care – Fall Out Boy
“The best of us can find happiness in misery.”
Wonderful Night – Fatboy Slim
“Our style’s fucking Posh like Dave Beckham.”
Feels Just Like It Should – Jamiroquai
“I got myself a 5 mile smile.”
Love Lockdown – Kanye West
“Where’s the finish line?”
Kenkraft 400 – Zombie Nation
“Don’t be patient. Pressure, lift off, that’s right.”

I’ll be getting songs road tested to find the right mix.
