Chicago Marathon Training: Week 4 Day 3

What a crazy, busy and fun week it has been! After our long run Sunday I got to have a rest day on Monday, which I completely enjoyed. After work we went out with friends to a restaurant that had recently opened. The food was good, but the visiting was even better. They are one of those couples who are just a joy to be around and they have been all over the world so I could sit and listen to their adventures for hours.

Tuesday was 4 easy miles on the treadmill and some strength training.

Today was our monthly event of run at work where people can head outside and run around the lake (or pond, whatever it is). I was so excited to run that in the morning I was all hopped up on Bucks and the sweet nectar of Diet Coke I was ready to run a couple laps inside the main atrium in my Coach wedges. But I had to wait until 3:30pm for our run so I just had the jitters while I worked, no biggie. 🙂

It was sunny and 84 degrees. I had 5 miles easy to do today. Ritter met up with me and we did the first mile together. She was testing out her new custom made insoles that she got from her doctor. I’m so glad we got to run part of our run together. When I got back to the starting point I picked up another running partner, this time it was my boss’ boss’ boss. Yeah three large ladder rungs above my job and btw he is SUPER fast. He wins races all the time. Okay, this was going to be interesting. The loop around the lake is about 1.5 miles. He said he was fine that I was running easy, but common. My easy is probably his walking pace to his next meeting. We chatted quite a bit and I got learn about what paths he likes to train on, what his favorite races were, and about his kids and their running. Very cool lap around the lake in my book. After that lap he was done for the day since he has started earlier (plus another 7 he said he did in the AM). So for my next lap a manager that I know was starting her run she tagged along with me and we caught up on things at work. All in all a fabulous run! It was a nice and easy run with lots of conversation and the time flew!

Tomorrow is a cross training day and it’s my first day of summer ballet class! Ritter signed up too so this is going to be a blast! I predict we may get into trouble for giggling too much. I hope I can hold it together with her around, she cracks me up! Then after class I got to boggie to a cookout with our aviation club. Busy busy and it’s not even the weekend yet!

  1. I'm so excited to hear about the ballet class. Are you going to wear a real leotard?How long is the class. I can't wait to hear more!

  2. OH leotard…… so excited!!!!!! hahaha I can't wait to act like we're 12 again 🙂 Actually after running last night and having my softball game afterwards, I feel great! So lets hope that we have an awesome ballet class and that we don't get kicked out for laughing too much =) hehe
