Marathon Recovery: Week 2 Day 3

Today was busy, but a lot of fun! I am going to be modeling in a fashion show for charity in January. I had to send my measurements and I have to dig up some head and body shots to submit to the coordinator. I will be getting to wear clothes from some of my favorite stores in town. I will definitely need to be getting some strength training in!

Today was also our monthly wellness event at work where we get to run around the pond by our office. It will be the last one for the year and they should start back up again around April. I had meetings and ended up getting there later than I had hoped, but I got in 4.5 miles. I was in such a rush that I forgot a hair tie, but luckily I saw our friend Tanya and she graciously gave me one to borrow. Thanks Tanya! I ran without music and just relaxed into my thoughts. The weather was perfect for running, overcast, cool and breezy.

Later tonight I felt like I had some energy still so I did 30 mins on the bike and some ab work and squats on the BOSU.

  1. A fashion show? How cool!!!!!!! What kind of clothing will you be modeling and for what charity? See, i told you that you were gorgeous. Also, how do you do squats on the bosu? I do squats in my pilates routine, but I'm curious about the bosu, as my gym has a few.

  2. Hey Rebecca! I think it will be business attire because it's to benefit a program that helps men and women who may have had challenges in life find a job by teaching them interview skills, helping them create a resumes, providing them interview and work clothing, etc. I just stand on my BOSU and put my legs should width appart and sit back like I'm going to sit in a chair and as I do that I raise my arms out in front of me to counter balance, then slowly return to standing while lowering arms back to hands on hips. I also do side squats where I move laterally across the BOSU by putting the BOSU at my right side, standing on the ground on the it's left facing forward (not at the BOSU), then right foot up, deep squat (one leg on BOSU one leg is on the ground), come up, step left leg up on the BOSU (now standing on BOSU), then right leg down on the right side of the BOSU (so I have traveled laterally over the BOSU), deep squat again, come up from squat, left foot step off to the ground and repeat by traveling back over the BOSU in the opposite direction. Kind of like step aerobics, but with a BOSU and I do it slowly to try and make it more challenging with balance. Youtube may have some BOSU exercise videos that would help show this better than I can explain it. :)Hey Meredith! LOL! Thanks! ;)CJ

  3. Actually I found out the focus of the charity for this event is to raise money for their 'women in leadership' scholorship for a local community college. Also very cool!CJ

  4. HI! great blog! I just love all of your pictures! Is your hubby a pilot? I used to work for a major airline so i gotta love on that pic from the plane! You are rockin it on the running!

  5. Thanks Nicole!Hi Olga! Yes my husband is a recreational pilot. I hope to take lessons sometime soon as well. We built our airplane with our own hands and it has been a labor of love and sacrafice that we now enjoy immensely. Hopefully more plane pictures to come as we venture out in our travels.CJ
