Mercedes Marathon Training: Week 6 Day 5

Today we got registerd for the USAF Half Marathon in September! We did this race last year and had so much fun that we knew we would do this one again in 2010.

This evening I got in 12 Miles on the treadmill. I tried out Jelly Belly Sports Beans in Watermellon flavor and they are so yummy! I’ve tasted them before at expos, but thought they would be too hard to manage while running. However, the packaging was easy to open and I just ate two at a time. They kept me busy for awhile cause I was enjoying them so one of my miles just flew by. They don’t stick to my teeth which is a bonus and they didn’t upset my tummy. I will be using these again on my next run.

  1. I like the Sports Beans, but haven't tried watermelon flavor. I had a stocking full of them, too. I think about 6 weeks out for you and Mercedes? (hm, maybe 8…)

  2. How you do 12 miles on a treadmill floors me! I can't even stand to do 1 mile on those things. There's just something I love about running on the road! On a side note, it's FREEZING in Birmingham this week! I'm sure you're used to this coooold and windy weather, but I hope it's pleasant in 6 weeks for the race!

  3. Yes the cold was something else for me this morning. -2 with the windchill, but I kept telling myself that it would make be stronger (and I have no choice my treadmill would shut down on my if I ran on it that long).Ya for USAF! I'm going to send you an email about this later (I've been thinking and planning).6 weeks till marathon number two, awesome.

  4. Yay for liking new electrolyte replacements. I like the fruit punch flavor but I haven't even seen the watermelon ones.

  5. 12 miles on the treadmill? What's your secret. I was forced into doing my 12 mile run on the thing during the DC blizzard and I nearly died of boredom! And I love sports beans, they're so much better than Gu both for taste and the function of being able to eat just a few at a time.
