Mercedes Marathon Recovery: Week 1 Day 5

This week is very light in mileage. This week has been super busy so I took advantage and took some rest days. I’m recovering from this marathon much quicker than the last one. I was stiff the day after and then sore going downstairs. Today I did 4 Miles Recovery on the Treadmill. My quads felt tight so I stretched and they feel much better now.

I forgot to mention that I have updated pics for my Mercedes Marathon post! Also Rob and I are in Start Corral C for Chicago Marathon! If our times continue to improve we may be able to update our corral if they still have space.

I did get some new kicks. I’m trying the Nike LunarElite. They are lighter than a LunarGlide and the fit is different. They seem to hug my ankle tighter and have more arch support. I’m not digging the toe box, it’s more pointed like an old style golf shoe. As far as the ‘ride’, only 4 miles tonight, but it feels light, smooth, and comfortable. I will need to put in some more time to see if they are in the rotation.

  1. So happy your feeling great, but even more important is how did I miss that you updated the blog with pics from the race.

OMG your race pics are KICK BUTT you are just hot out there on that course. You never would know that you where moving your butt so fast. You have got to be happy with these pics, and I must say you did an excellent job looking out for the camera and giving them your best smile. Seriously I love them, and I wish I could make individual comments for each of them. I better see you making a banner for this blog with on of those shots. There is one missing though…..where is the finish shot? Boo I wanted to see a pic of both you and Rob smiling big across the finish.

    1. Hey Stevi!! Thanks SO much! No finish picture of me because this woman was right in front of me with her arms raised so there really isn’t that victorious finish picture. I posted ones of Rob coming into the finish area, but there is no ‘crossing the line’ pics of him. The half marathon is huge at this race and they had the finish line divided. I bet they had their hands full with pictures for the half finishers.

As far as a banner goes, I’m not sure what options I have with the template I’m using here. Hmm…I’ll look into that. Thanks for all the sweet comments! 😀

    1. Thanks Sue! I’ll never forget B’ham and the best Valentine’s Day ever! It was truly a wonderful race and wonderful town. I would recommend this race to anyone.
