IL Marathon Training: Week 1 Complete

Yesterday we ran into our friend Jack while running errands and we made impromptu plans to join him and Christine for dinner. Not very often that I get to be around another person named Christine. 🙂 After dinner we got in our workouts. I did 5 Miles Recovery on the treadmill followed by some Ab work and Upper Body Strengthening.

Today was a great day because we “put the ‘fly’ back into ‘flyrunner'”. 🙂 We had our first flight of 2010! This winter has been quite unfavorable for flying. It was like Christmas to get back into our plane and take off somewhere. We went south to an airport restaurant for lunch. A 20 minute flight that would be almost 2 hours by car. The plane flew perfectly. I can’t wait until we are back to flying regularly.

Us leaving our hanger for the flight.

And some cool pictures.

Then it was on to errands and then running. I did 7 Miles Recovery on the treadmill and picked up the pace a little half way through to wake up my legs. Then I did some Upper Body Strengthening.

Here is how the week ended up:

M: Rest

T: Bike Easy 8.3 Miles (P2, L6, 30:00, 16.6 mph), Abs and Leg Strengthening

W: Rest

R: 5 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 39:30, 7:54 Pace)

F: 5 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 39:07, 7:50 Pace)

Sa: 5 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 37:48, 7:34 Pace), Abs, Push Ups, Upper Body Weights

Su: 7 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 52:42, 7:32 Pace), Upper Body Weights

Total: 22 Miles

  1. I love your flying pics…………so cool and so exciting to get back in the air.

I can’t believe it’s time to train for ANOTHER marathon. Since you already have a BQ in the bag do you have a different goal for this one? Maybe you and Rob running together?

    1. Hey Stevi! I definitely feel like my old self again when we get to fly. 🙂 We are both going to work to keep improving our times so we won’t be running together. Just knowing we are both out there works for me. With all of the training I want each of us to get out there and see what we can do race day.
