IL Marathon Training: Week 4 Complete

Another week down! This one I didn’t do any of the scheduled speed work because my left hip has been tight and sore. In this situation I start with backing off intensity and then cut mileage if needed. Luckily I was able to keep my miles and am feeling much better. Today’s run I was up bright and early and on the treadmill because I had to get my rear in gear and pack because I have a commercial flight today to leave for a work conference.

Here is how the week went.

M: Upper Body and Ab Strengthening

T: 4 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 33:22, 8:21 Pace), Ab Strengthening

W: 5 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 41:40, 8:20 Pace), Push Ups

R: 8 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 1:04:50, 8:07 Pace)

F: 12 Miles Med-Long (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 1:34:48, 7:54 Pace)

Sa: 17 Miles Long (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 2:15:26, 7:58 Pace)

Su: 9 Miles Recovery (Treadmill, 1% Incline, 1:11:41, 7:58 Pace)

Total: 55 Miles

This week is a tie for my highest mileage week ever run, the last one being in January when training for the Mercedes Marathon. This coming week will be a new record in mileage as long as I can balance it with being out of town for a conference most of the week. I hope that the hotel gym 1) has a decent treadmill 2) isn’t a sauna of hot like the last hotel I ran in 3) I’m able to work around their gym hours. It will be an adventure for sure!

  1. Awesome Job CJ! I’m glad cutting intensity is all that was needed to stay strong this week.

Have fun at your conference and good luck with the mileage!
