2010 Go! St. Louis Half Marathon – 1:36:50

About ready to go, just need a ponytail.

This race logistically is so easy. The event starts just a couple blocks from our hotel. It was 51 degrees and a light breeze. This course was not flat. I’m looking forward to IL Marathon for less incline. The course loops around Budweiser Brewery and the smell of hops was very nice.

Coming back the crowds are so nice and encouraging. They were shouting out our names since they are printed on our bibs, which is a lot of fun. I got a lot of women shouting at me “cute shoes!” throughout the course and the guys around me would look at me funny, but I would shout back “thanks!!”. Got to love the pink Lunaracers! 😀 At one point these ladies around mile 8 shouted “cute shoes” and the guy next to me said “I doubt they were talking to me.” and I said, “Hard to say, you may want to consider some pink shoes though to make certain”. 🙂

Up next was the run by Pappy’s Smokehouse and it smelled amazing because they were smoking up the meat. It’s a very delicious and brutal smell when there is a race to finish first. I thought “I will be back Pappy’s!!”.

Just before Mile 10 I got to see Rob on the turn around and shout “Go Baby! Shake ‘N Bake!”. 🙂

I felt great the whole race and that I’m getting stronger with my pacing even with the hills.

Rob and I both PRed!

Rob finished in 1:33:58!!

I was 1:36:50 which was 7th in my Age Group!

My previous HM time was 1:51:51 so this is a great sign that things are progressing!

Medal up close.

Now it’s time to get cleaned up to have some Pappy’s Smokehouse and fill up on an insane amount of BBQ! I’ll update this post with more pictures soon. Thanks for all the well wishes!

    1. Yes there are some nice goodies that come with certain races. I think this duffel was to celebrate 10 years of this race. It was a very cool goodie to get!
