As the countdown gets closer to Baby J the doctor has been real pleased with my health and progress. He was even encouraging my continued activity as long as I’m comfortable.
I had my running interview with the Champaign, IL news. I wasn’t sure what questions they would ask and I have a tendency to be long-winded in my responses. I hope they are able to edit something together that makes some sort of sense. 🙂 I haven’t been given and air date yet. When I do get notified it should also be posted on their website and I will post a link.
This week I did the following:
Bike 8 Miles (Trainer, 43:13, 11.1 mph)
Bike 10 Miles (Trainer, 47:16, 12.69 mph)
3.1 Miles Run/Walk (Treadmill, .5% Incline, 41:25, 13:22 Pace)
1.5 Miles Run/Walk (Treadmill, .5% Incline, 20:52, 13:55 Pace)
5 Minutes Upper Body Weights
2 Miles Run (‘Hood, 22:15, 11:08 Pace)
Run/Walk: 6.6 Miles
Bike: 18 Miles
Strengthening: 1 Time
Lately I haven’t had any specific pregnancy symptoms that would indicate that the baby is getting ready. No real Braxton Hicks type feelings or anything. I just have the standard feeling winded easily and minor swelling if I sit too long, but it goes away after I move. The biggest symptom I have is pregnancy brain. I have it MAJORLY bad this week. I forget what I’m saying mid-sentence. Even my attempts at making lists AND having Rob remind me haven’t been enough from me forgetting exactly what I need to do next. It’s quite frustrating and in fact, a bit embarrassing at work. My job requires me to be able to think on my feet and collaborate with others most of the day. The foggy brain has also cause my vocabulary to be smaller so I can’t seem to find the right words to what I want to say, let alone remember the point I’m trying to make. It’s been a big challenge this past couple weeks since I’m used to being able to keep pace with a conversation and have a bunch of other lists going in my head at the same time. I’ve had some women tell me that foggy brain will continue and turn into parent brain and others say they feel back to normal altogether. Fingers crossed that the fog will lift a bit at some point post-baby. 🙂

Rob and I have been taking baby classes and this week we had to practice simulation of breaking and relaxing through pain by clipping clothes pin on your ears. After about seven times of doing it our ears were bruised. Rob relaxing through simulated contraction….lol. 🙂
We have a nursery update! Our glider and ottoman came in. It’s the Monte Luca Glider in charcoal with white trim.
We have an Italian restaurant chain in the area called Biaggi’s. I was inspired by their roasted beet salad to make a similar style at home. I didn’t do any measuring on the dressing, I just guestimated based on looking at how much salad I had.
Arugula and Beet Salad
- Organic arugula
- Dried Cranberries
- Beets Sliced
- Dressing: Honey, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Aged Balsamic Vinegar all whisked together
For dinner I made up this:
Spicy Turkey Sausage Ziti
- Cooked hot spicy italian turkey sausage according to instructions
- Cook whole wheat penne pasta according to instructions
- Add sliced red pepper, green pepper, and red onion to the sausages when they are done
- Remove sausages, slice, and add back into the skillet
- Add pasta sauce (I had Wolfgang Puck Tomato Basil) and cooked whole wheat pasta to skillet
- Optional: Put in a glass baking dish (sprayed with olive oil) and add reduced fat cheese to the top and bake at 350 degrees until cheese is melted
This was my first Mother’s Day and Rob made sure it was absolutely special. He got me an adorable necklace from Tiffany’s with a little teddy bear for our baby that’s about to join us. 🙂
Rob also made me an amazing breakfast with something he’s never made before. He made crepes with chocolate sauce and raspberry compote. He even made them with reduced fat, fat-free, and sugar-free ingredients because he knew I would love that best! 🙂
